Project # 3
This is my final project Click to view: Behind Blue Eyes
Avian Flu a flash animation from Brain Pop. It is a site targeted for children ages 6 - 12 a very informative website with tons of facts and related topics, in this case it was about Avian influenza also known as the bird flu the flash gave different terms that are important to know as well as facts. The images that were used were simple yet I think they were well organized and made it easy for the viewer to understand. Some of the scenes in this flash were still images with just the sound of the boy talking. Other scenes had simple movements that make the animation more alive, for example when the boy is jogging and the chicken and pig move their feet. The robot mostly just blinks his eyes and the 3 lights it has on the chest changes colors and that makes it more active. After the flash is done it also has an Interactive quiz that will test your knowledge on the video that you just watched.
The Coup Ride the fence animation is targeted to an audience that is anti-everything in this case political mostly like the government, war and narco to name a few, however even though it is anti-many things the message seems to be "pick a side" which is way they repeat "ride the fence" so many times. Like the character on top of the Ride The Fence words is trying to balance on them, because it doesn't know what side to choose. The colors are plain and fit the topic just black, gray, white and gray, and blue orange and a little red are used to emphasize some scenes. Most of the scenes are repeated during this flash, and some images are looped, there seemed to be a lot of tweening. The music made this animation come to life and because it has a quick nice beat to it, I think it is what kept this animation interesting because the images moved to the rhythm.
Paper Wars was created by Ed Skudder I enjoyed this stick figure Flash animation, because it was a different approach bringing these stick figures to life by given them movement. The way I figure this flash was done is that the stick figures body parts had to be done individually because it is not just there eyes moving or blinking they’re arms and legs move a lot. The boy’s hand that had to move as if it was drawing instantly was also excellent, the way he erases the stick figures make it seem so real. It begins by a stick figure fighting a dragon for this girl and then this other stick figure with sun glasses and a bike thinking he is so cool takes the girl and once again he fights for her and gets rid of the “cool” stick figure. So this flash animation has a war and a love story to it. Some of the sounds were over used and didn’t belong in certain places. The audience can pretty much be everyone, because at one point or another we all scribbled during a class and or meeting without getting caught. Unlike the ending of this flash, the boy that is drawing during class has some movements like his eyes blinking and his left shoulder at the end of the flash and arm reaches over to give the teacher the paper, that part was very well presented.
This Great Animation by the Zimmertwins was very interested, it was brief and it had a story at least at the very beginning it did because unfortunately it ends with text saying: "What happens next? You Decide!" Which was the disappointing part of the flash, although it leaves the viewer to use their imagination and come up with the ending. Other then that this flash was targeted more towards Children it is a cartoon it kind of reminded me of the kids show Rugrats. The sounds that were used were timed very well from the sound of the wheels getting louder and louder as the wagon went faster down the hill. The sound of a crow in the background. The sound of the trash hitting the cement and the sounds of the black cat. Most of the movements were on the wheels, the cat’s tail and the garbage, which I think a guide was used. The boy’s eyes have different movements like the skulls and fire, although it was curious to see that as the boy is going down the hill one of his lenses gets a crack either from the speed or a rock however as he keeps going down the hill the crack goes away mysteriously. Another movement that was simple was the boy’s helmet straps moving with the wind and the different motions of his mouth.
This week’s animation by Michele D'Auria - Promenade the puzzle - was a bit confusing... at least for me anyways, I had a hard time figuring out what the point of the story was. It looks like a guy smoking a cigarette but at same time at first I thought it was a lady because it seems like the outfit is a black dress and the shirt is light pink, the way the hands move when smoking and the way the cigarette is held. Well it could just be to make it confusing and spooky, while he is smoking the smoke becomes a ghostly figure face of a woman and it leads to believe that it is someone he loved or loves because they start making heart shapes out of the smoke and later kiss. It is like what keeps them connected is the smoke. Also there are lines and shapes moving while they create the illusion that there is a flash and later on in the middle of the shape movements a heart is in the center pounding with a red background from the heart shape the face is once again formed this time taken apart from the heart yes, like a puzzle. There is also a cross that shows up many times, is it describing death? At the end it seems like he just bows and then you can here an audience clapping. The music that was used for this animation makes it creepy and it fits perfect for this flash a soundtrack by an Italian band Premiata Forneria Marconi. This flash uses many of the same movements and shapes therefore even though it is very lengthy, the same shapes are being used just in different positions.
What Barry Says is a GREAT Flash animation it is targeted more towards people who like politics and even those who don't care for it much, because this flash capture's the attention of the visitors in this website. The colors that were chosen are basic not more than four colors are displayed red, black, gray and white. I believe they choose these colors because with only four colors it makes it easier to play with the changes of pictures that are being shown, it is to keep it simple enough but so that the viewer can quickly see the picture that demonstrates what Barry is saying. The audio sound effects that were used for this flash have a nice beat to it and Barry narrates to the beat with a clear voice and easy to understand. The Arial black text that was used through out the flash is also very clear to read. I do not agree with Barry in everything he had to say in this flash however, the use of the pictures and the way each picture connects to the previous one is impressive. I specially liked the fire effect that was used several times.
